A squad of 12 players faced a very well organised and experienced Middleton. This was a first meeting together for many of our players and the group was very diverse in age and experience: however we played awesome hockey !
Fantastic mid-field tackling from Evie Clayson, Kayla Samson and Lena Bickhadt ensured that Hill constantly thwarted Middleton's drive forward. There was sterling defence from rookies Lou Bamford and Olly Player who combined well with youngsters Maddy Watson and Lucy Turner at the back. We defended well with Rose Griffiths shelling the ball out of defence after some brilliant saves from GK Lucy Venables. However, the pressure from Middleton resulted in 2 short corners which were decisively struck home. Half time score was 0-3.
Renewed efforts and more consistent marking improved Hill's chances in the second half and the forwards, Katie Roberts , Rachel Meadows and Perry Webber battled hard. Final score was 0-4.
